Job Description
Purpose: The primary function of Purchasing is to economically and efficiently purchase goods and services commensurate with AbbVie policies and objectives, while adhering to a strict standard of business ethics and integrity. Responsible for managing suppliers effectively from a transactional standpoint and providing high levels of customer satisfaction. The Manager works closely with Site management and employees. This position negotiates, develops and implements transactional related agreements that maximize value and support client initiatives, standardizes materials, services and suppliers. The Customer Excellence Manager is delegated the authority to commit company funds. This position will work on the definition and resolution of known or anticipated problems in value, quality, feasibility, and specifications in the procurement of goods and services, while contributing process efficiencies and other value added activity to support customer needs and expectations. Responsibilities: Develop and integrate strategies across Commercial & Indirect Purchasing Supplier Management to review/improve Procure to Pay processes in order to improve customer experience. Lead key cross functional projects and liaise cross-functionally in order to identify opportunities and projects that deliver reduced cycle time, increased efficiency, productivity and/or value to customers. Be a subject matter expert over processes and across all categories within the Commercial & Indirect Purchasing Supplier Management Team. Meet regularly with internal customers and support functions to ensure customer satisfaction and continuous improvement, including monthly / regular reporting and updates. Understand the Organizations approved buying channels and contracting policy for goods and services and help guide requestors to the appropriate buying channel. Develop, lead and coach a team of purchasing professionals. Support the Category Team strategy by enforcing the supplier preferred network, having understanding of Category Team initiatives/priorities, having subject matter expertise and educating stakeholders of the same. Effectively develop and negotiate confidentiality agreements, stand alone contracts and Statements of Work and any other agreement in alignment with agreed category strategies, at a financial approved and authorized for the position. Manage standard Procure-to-Pay intake contract requests within established Service Level metrics. Develop & report out on team metrics and performance for Procure-to-pay related activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business or related discipline or 4 years of equivalent work experience A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in a purchasing agent / buyer role, preferably, but not limited to Pharmaceutical. Analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills. Written and verbal skills enabling effective communication with all levels of management. Ability to develop and grow relationships with stakeholders. Knowledge of purchasing policy. Strong Contract negotiations experience. Strong knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook. Ability to prioritize and organize workload across multiple projects. CPM certification desired or equivalent (Preferred) Experience with SAP (SRM, ECC), e-Sourcing and contract management tools preferred, but not required (Preferred) Individual must be self-motivated with great follow-up skills and be able to work independently (Preferred) People management experience (Preferred). Key Stakeholders: External: Vendors within this space Internal: Various stakeholders, PSM Category Team, business partners (e.g. finance, business owners, other support functions) and leadership within the Commercial & Indirect Purchasing Supplier Management Team
