Motor Vehicle Operator - Supervisor

Qualifications

Driver's License Requirements (Screen-Outs): Applicant's must possess a current and valid state-issued Class B Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement. NOTE: We cannot accept photographs, therefore please do not submit a copy of your license with your application package. If an interview is requested, you will be required to provide a copy of your current, valid state-issued Driver's License. PLUS (SCREEN-OUT): You must have the ability to lead or supervise motor vehicle operators using various vehicles and ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the transportation system. This includes experience coordinating and planning staffing needs, equipment and material; establishing deadlines, priorities and work sequences, work schedules on a week-to-week basis; operating and maintaining various vehicles; performing vehicle inspections; identifying vehicle defects; ordering and stocking of supplies, materials, parts and equipment; demonstrating a high degree of reliability and dependability; and excellent safety record. NOTE: Your resume must provide a detailed description of the duties you have performed in the positions you have held to receive credit. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: The work requires periods of sitting through portions of the workday as well as standing and walking. The person in this position exerts moderate physical effort used in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet and legs to simultaneously operate hand and foot controls, and in normal driving because of the vehicle or equipment involved. Physical effort is required in the frequent handling of patients including those in wheelchairs. May occasionally handle objects weighing up to 75 pounds or more. Working Conditions: At this level, the person in this position performs a mixture of indoor and outdoor work. vehicles operate in all kinds of weather (sunshine, rain, sleet, snow, etc.) in a controlled traffic environment throughout a government installation or establishment and on public roadways. May be exposed to congested traffic conditions, unsafe roads conditions due to ice, snow and rain, fumes and dust. Also, may be in contact with diseases from patients. Operates vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Will drive in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems. May be exposed to dirt and fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving. Required to use protective personal equipment when transporting patients with communicable diseases. Subject to bodily injury when patients require physical adjustment and are non-compliant with verbal directions from motor vehicle operator. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications. For this position, the job element method is used to match what you, the applicant, can do against what the work calls for. Your knowledge, skills and abilities will be compared to the knowledge, skills and abilities (called job elements) needed for success. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element (WG-2 and higher only; screen-outs are not applicable to WG-1). Applicants who appear to meet the screen out element are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated from consideration. The potential eligibles are rated against the remainder of the job elements. While a specific length of training and experience is not required, your responses to the questionnaire must be supported by detailed descriptions of your experience on your resume. You will be rated on the following Job Elements as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Drive Safely Interpret Instructions, Specifications (mobile equipment operations) Lead or Supervise Motor Vehicles Reliability And Dependability Work Practices IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
