<dd><p><strong>Position Summary:</strong><br>The Program Director for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, continuous improvement, and accreditation compliance of the program. This position ensures excellence in curriculum delivery, faculty and student support, and clinical education partnerships. The Director provides vision and direction for program growth, fosters strong relationships with healthcare partners, and ensures the program meets the standards of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRCDMS).</p></dd>
<dt><h2>Essential Functions</h2></dt>
<dd><p><strong><u>Program Leadership Role (40%)</u></strong></p><ul><li>Provide academic and administrative leadership for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.10%</li><li>Lead the program’s strategic planning, assessment, and accreditation processes. 9%</li><li>Supervise and evaluate program faculty, adjuncts, and staff. 2%</li><li>Maintain accurate student records and oversee student advising, progression, and retention initiatives. 2%</li><li>Serve as liaison between the institution, accrediting bodies, and clinical affiliates. 2%</li><li>Conduct regular program and curriculum reviews, implementing updates as needed. 2%</li><li>Oversee the program’s compliance with accreditation requirements and lead the self-study, reporting, and site-visit processes. 4%</li><li>Manage program operations, including scheduling, budgeting, faculty recruitment and evaluation, and resource allocation. 5%</li><li>Collaborate with clinical partners to secure, evaluate, and sustain clinical education placements and maintain strong communication with clinical coordinators. 2%</li><li>Foster equity and inclusion in all aspects of the program. 2%</li></ul><strong><u>Faculty Role (60%)</u></strong><ul><li>Teach 12 credits per academic year in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program as assigned. 40%</li><li>Advise, recruit, and support students, fostering a culture of academic success and professional growth. 5%</li><li>Ensure ongoing program effectiveness through curriculum development, assessment, and continuous quality improvement. 5%</li><li>Mentor faculty and staff, promoting professional development and instructional excellence. 5%</li><li>Engage in college service, strategic planning, and community partnerships to advance the mission of the institution. 5%</li></ul></dd>
<dt><h2>Experience and Education Required</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"><li>Master’s degree in Healthcare or Education-Related field. Doctoral degree in addition to Sonography certification is highly valued. </li><li>Current credentialing in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS or equivalent) in at least one concentration (e.g., Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, Cardiac). </li><li>Minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience as a registered diagnostic medical sonographer. </li><li>Minimum of one year of experience in an administrative, supervisory, or program leadership role. </li><li>At least two years’ experience in curriculum design, program evaluation, and student advising. </li><li>College-level teaching experience preferred. </li><li>Familiarity with CAAHEP/JRCDMS standards and accreditation processes.</li></ul></dd>
