Greetings,
My proactive mentality combined with my extraordinary desire to achieve and deliver
excellence makes me an ideal candidate for this position.
As a recent DePaul University graduate, and current Masters student, I have greatly
developed my graphic design and film production skills over the past three years through
student organizations and internships.
I was instrumental in the transition of The Hawk from a newspaper to a magazine,
and have been a crucial factor in the creative growth, and financial stability of this
publication. I have also served as sole graphic designer and layout coordinator for
the past three years, and will be managing the transition of this publication during its
institutionalization process at DePaul University. Through my efforts and leadership,
the Hawk has developed into a structured and dependable publication for the minority
community at DePaul University.
Furthermore, as Graphic Design Intern at Stylechicago.com I learned how to enhance my
technique and skill level by working daily on client projects, and creating original pieces
on a continuous basis. As the current Graphic Designer of Delta Sigma Theta, Lambda
Chapter and DePaul’s Office of University Ministry I have been able to use my creativity
to produce projects that were never before distributed. An example of this would be the
Protestant Ministry Bulletin, and event t-shirts for Delta Sigma Theta, Lambda chapter.
As a Digital Cinema student at DePaul University, I have been exposed to various aspects
of the film industry over the past four years. I have coordinated shoots, cast talent, and
edited footage for several group projects. Likewise, I am extremely proud of the mini-
documentary I produced, filmed, and edited last summer on the historical Chicago
neighborhood, Bronzeville, and the African American Recruitment video I produced and
directed for DePaul University.
Likewise, as a Social Media & Multi-media Intern at the Chicago Tribune and Social
Director at Blueye Corporation I was instrumental in driving more traffic to the Tribune
Website and promoting clients’ business via social media sites. During these internships I
learned how to increase the search engine optimization of articles and study trends of our
clients’ respective industries. Furthermore, more I learned the basic ins and outs of html
coding and further developed my knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
You will find I am dedicated, motivated, and extremely driven. I believe my educational
background, leadership experience, and skill set would make me an extremely viable and
beneficial addition to your staff. I look forward to hearing from you and discussing this
opportunity.
Sincerely yours,
Christa Smith
