It’s been a while since I’ve posted a picture on here, but today is a special occasion as I’m super excited to announce that I’m starting a new position as a Product Manager at Microsoft!
My passion for product was ignited years ago during my internship with Deloitte where I took off my end user hat for the first time and was exposed to the challenging, yet fulfilling development side of product. I felt a strong desire to combine my background in Computer Science, my nuanced perspective as a Black woman in tech, my enthusiasm for innovation, and my excitement for rallying and unifying people from different backgrounds towards a common goal by pursuing Product Management.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the hundreds of rejections (or as I like to say, redirections) over the past several months that allowed me to get to this point. Nevertheless, I’m thankful for the arduous journey and the guidance and wisdom of God as well as the people that poured into me and supported me along the way - Rodney Johnson, Glenn Block, MBA (he/him/his), Kimberley Buchanan, Odell Hemby, HBCU CONNECT, Beth M., Derek Hazeur, Mahyar G. and countless others! My journey would not have been the same without these people and gratefulness is an understatement.
I’m super excited to drive impact within this new industry and bring others that look like me along to increase the mere 5% of women that are Product Managers.
