Multicultural Center (MCC)

Reports directly to and acts in the absence of the MCC Director. Must be aware of concerns, pressures, and inequities that marginalized communities including people of color, and people with diverse sexual orientations and gender identities confront and must be willing to work as a member of a team of staff and students advocating for the above mentioned populations. Assumes primary responsibility for raising programming funds for the MultiCultural Center. Assumes primary responsibility for overseeing a 150-seat theater, a lounge/gallery space that seats 70 people, two small meeting rooms and a kitchen. Supervision of at least 10 students and a sound technician associated with the use of the space. Should be able to cultivate and serve as a liaison to the academic community, the student users of the MCC and others, coordinate receptions that are part of the MCC offerings and also responsible for fund-raising events and grant writing. Responsible for conceptualizing and implementing community engagement and engaged learning programming. Facilitate students in their work for equity, inclusion, and social justice.

Qualifications & Requirements
Requirements: Strong knowledge of University and departmental policies, processes, and procedures. Strong knowledge of risk assessment principles along with the ability to evaluate risks and the likelihood of consequences. Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem-solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance. Strong skills in active listening, critical thinking, negotiating, reasoning, organizing, written and verbal communication, multitasking and intercultural competence and uses these skills to develop original ideas to solve problems.
