Specialist, Underwriting Sales (6118)|
The Specialist in Underwriting Sales will serve as sales director specializing in non-commercial sponsorships and underwriting, building relationships with the local business community to generate financial support for WSIE 88.7 FM The Sound and make the station self-sustaining. He or she will identify and evaluate potential clients within the community that fit target demographic, then plan and execute marketing/sales plans for these prospective clients in non-commercial format. The Specialist will analyze listenership data and devise sales approaches to deliver target audience to sponsors/underwriters while working with station manager regarding on-air scheduling of the underwriting/sponsorship announcements. As part of the effort to build on-going financial support for WSIE radio, the Specialist will conduct stewardship and follow-up with the underwriters to ensure long-lasting relationships with the sponsors.
Additionally, the Specialist will build relationships with fellow non-commercial sales representatives, both regionally and nationally, to learn and share creative sales strategies; keep abreast of FCC rules and regulations regarding non-commercial underwriting; and train and supervise student assistants.
The Specialist in Underwriting Sales may be assigned additional duties and responsibilities in support of the departmentís mission and goals.
This position is a current Part-Time Administrative / Professional vacancy at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Hours may vary based on workload, evening hours may apply.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in marketing, broadcasting, communications, business or related field.
-At least three (3) years experience in advertising, sales, marketing and/or broadcasting.
-Professional demeanor, excellent oral and written communication skills, clean driving record.
-Must be well-organized and self-managed.
-Copywriting experience is preferred.
-Experience in non-commercial/educational radio helpful but not required.
