Assistant Director of Financial Analysis (6115)|
The Assistant Director of Financial Analysis is responsible for the Financial Analysis unit of Financial Affairs and serves as SIUE’s financial analysis expert. He or she will provide to SIUE/SIU executive management complex forecasts, analyses, and recommendations and sets strategic direction for the unit. The Assistant Director serves on the management team under the Director of Financial Affairs and participates in the development of programs, departmental objectives, long-range planning, and will interpret and help establish Financial Affairs policies. Departmental duties will include managing Financial Affairs’ budgets, leading special projects for the Director, and providing support to the SIUE Budget Director.
Additionally, the Assistant Director acts as liaison to university units and assists them in complying with financial policies and requirements.
The Assistant Director of Financial Analysis may be assigned additional duties and responsibilities in support of the department’s mission and goals.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
-Minimum 8 years related experience.
-Galactic-class expert in Microsoft Excel.
-Skilled in Microsoft Word.
-Ability to make sound financial recommendations to leadership, understand and be sensitive to the objectives of faculty and of administrators in each university functional area.
-Project leadership skills.
-Ability to lead diverse individuals who do not report to this position.
-Able to develop and analyze income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
-Knowledge of budgeting and fund accounting.
-Ability to generate forecasts, financial models with many variable inputs, variance analysis, sensitivity analysis, feasibility studies, present value calculations, and ratio analysis.
-Good verbal and written communication skills to a broad range of people, from students to the Chancellor.
-Demonstrated ability to initiate projects independent of management and to find better ways of doing things.
-Ability to distinguish material influences among the sea of factors affecting financial forecasts.
-Ability to handle multiple priorities & meet deadlines.
-Master's degree in related field preferred.
-5 years of experience in higher ed- preferably for a public 4-year university.
-Ability to extract data from financial databases (e.g., Oracle).
